Yasaman Sheri is a Designer and Creative Director who works in the field of sensing and perception.
She has led design interactions at Microsoft Hololens Operating System team for 5 years, designing interfaces using gesture, machine vision and spacial interactions. Her work with Augmented Reality has inspired her to expand sensory interactions to design for the "other senses" in haptics, smell, food and flavors, leading her to set up a studio and collaborate with Toyota, Mozilla XR Studio, Yeast. Food Design Lab, Sissel Tolaas and Google (X), to name a few.
Yasaman is curious about Food, Smell and Synthetic Biology and the new types of sensing and interactions that might emerge from the synergy between Design and Science.
She is also an educator and serves as faculty at Copenhagen Institute for Interaction Design where she founded the first Sensory Design course, exploring extensions of sensing beyond the human scale.
Ginkgo Bioworks Engineers of new organisms to solve challenges across a range of industries from fuels to pharmaceutical production. Their biological engineers make use of an in-house pipeline of synthetic biology technologies to design, build, and test new organisms. They design custom microbes for customers across multiple markets. They build their foundries to scale the process of organism engineering using software and hardware automation. Organism engineers at Ginkgo learn from nature to develop new organisms that replace technology with biology, which is the most advanced manufacturing technology on the planet. They're inspired by the power of biology and driven to build tools that make it possible to access that power in new ways.
