'Design for Pattern' - The core of design is empathy. It's how you address any product challenge, but Uber hasn't always operated this way. The next big step for Uber (or any big product company) is to become a company that’s really, really good at connecting with people and people’s needs. This talk explores a conceptual model for how we're driving change through design at Uber.
Uber is a ridesharing, food delivery, bicycle-sharing, and transportation network company headquartered in San Francisco, California. Transportation isn’t the only thing they’re changing through their technology: they’re building a culture that emphasizes doing the right thing for riders, drivers and employees. Good things happen when people can move, whether across town or towards their dreams. What started as a way to tap a button to get a ride has led to billions of moments of human connection as people go all kinds of places in all kinds of ways with the help of their technology. It started as a simple idea: "what if you could request a ride from your phone?" but what began as "everyone's private driver" quickly grew into a global logistics layer, transforming an entire industry in the process. A tech startup that turned into global mobility platform in eight short years, working around the world efficiently.
